I enjoy creating work that encourages an awareness of place and concept while also exercising intuitive expression. Keeping this in mind as I explore the subject of light, I have been creating cyanotype backgrounds that directly introduce light into paintings whose compositions are then painted from observed abstractions of the scene printed. Largely inspired by the natural world, these pieces all feature phototropic plantlife navigating painted forms as we all navigate the structures and obstacles of life. This series is an ongoing body of work where I pay homoge to specific sites and subjects from local landmark documentation to Climate change’s visible effect, through this photographic process of collecting light. Each piece becomes imbued with the light and shadow of its birth - a full circle moment I find beautiful and elegant.
